Padley, a charity committed to supporting the most deprived and vulnerable in our society, has been named as the charity to be supported by Dinner at the Roundhouse, Derby on Thursday, October 18th 2018.
Founded in 1985 and a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service winner, Padley provides vital support to take people forward from whatever their difficult past has dealt them, be it homelessness, debt and destitution, drugs, alcohol, mental health issues, physical and learning disabilities, severe autism and long term unemployment. It does not receive any Government grants, and needs almost £1million a year to do its job properly. Porterbrook Lasing and Rail Forum Midlands, two of the major Dinner attendees, and already amongst Padley’s friends.

This year’s big-hitting keynote speakers are Andy Milner, CEO of Amey, the construction giant that is a partner in the running of several UK passenger franchises, and Phil Hufton, Managing Director of Network Rail.
This year’s celebrity host will be Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, the inspirational and outspoken 15-times Paralympic medal winner and champion, who has fought the cause of the disabled at the centre of Government, and is on the board of Transport for London.
Now in its eighth successful year, Dinner at the Roundhouse is the UK’s flagship railway networking event. Dinner at the Roundhouse is the climax of a full day when senior figures from the UK and overseas will be visiting the city for the Rail Forum Midlands annual conference, which has its own top speakers.
It will highlight the work the body and its 150 business members employing 25,000 people are doing to support the development of the next generation of skilled workforce, growing exports and accelerating and supporting innovation.
Dinner at the Roundhouse is held in the historic surroundings of the 1839 Roundhouse that is now within Derby College. It is normally a sell-out event, and the audience includes many of the UK’s major transport decision makers, including Government ministers, MPs, worldwide manufacturers, passenger and freight train operators, rolling stock leasing companies, suppliers. Recent celebrity hosts have included Brian Blessed, Sir Ranulph Fiennes and John Motson, so top quality entertainment is guaranteed. It provides the unique chance for convivial informal networking until 1.30am.
