Derby MP calls on Rail Forum Midlands members to support ‘Dying to Work’ Campaign

Pauline Latham OBE MP has asked for the support of Rail Forum Midlands members for an important and poignant cause. Pauline is a highly valued ambassador for RFM and our industry, and for several years she has hosted our Annual Parliamentary Reception.

Now she is seeking our help and is asking rail companies to sign up to support the ‘Dying to Work’ campaign. Dying to Work came about because of the experiences of a constituent of Pauline’s, Jacci Woodcock. Jacci experienced significant problems when she was diagnosed with cancer and the campaign calls for terminal illness to be recognised as a ‘protected characteristic’ so that an employee with a terminal illness can enjoy a protected period where they cannot be dismissed as a result of their condition.

The ‘Dying to Work’ campaign already has support from the UK’s trade unions, several MPs and a number of large national and regional employers including local authorities and NHS trusts.

Rail Forum Midlands would like to encourage members to sign up to the voluntary charter. More information can be found at www.dyingtowork.co.uk
