Loram secures £25m NR fleet maintenance and operations contracts

Loram has secured two contracts with Network Rail to support the company’s Infrastructure Monitoring Fleet, which plays a key role in delivering Asset Management and Safety Assurance Plans.

The first contract confirms Loram as the maintainer of 65 dedicated rail vehicles which Network Rail use to digitally measure and analyse track and structural assets across Britain’s railway.

The second contract involves Loram both operating and maintaining a small specialist fleet of rail vehicles used for visual inspections, track recording and the analysis of switches & crossings integrity. As well as planning, scheduling and operating these trains network-wide, Loram will also undertake their routine maintenance.

Andrew Watson, Director – Business Development at Loram UK, said: “I am delighted that Network Rail continues to put its trust in Loram’s highly skilled workforce and I’m pleased that we can continue to play a key role in helping to deliver a safe and reliable railway.

“For the first time we will be operating elements of the Infrastructure Monitoring Fleet in our own right. We look to increase the range of services that we offer infrastructure owners, both in the UK and across the EMEA region, as part of our US parent company’s ambition to be the global leader in the design, build, finance, operation and maintenance of specialist On Track Machines.”

The two new contracts with Network Rail commenced in April 2022 and cover an initial period of two years, with an option to extend this to five years. These contracts will support 30 existing jobs and create 20 additional roles at the Derby based business.
