ZF Services UK celebrates the success of its rail repowering project

Collaborating with Rolls Royce MTU and Irish Rail, ZF Services UK recently upgraded Class 22000 Hyundai Rotem Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) with EcoWorld transmissions, achieving up to 20 per cent fuel savings and significantly reduced CO2 emissions.

This project, which would save Irish Rail close to €2 million per annum following fleet fitment, highlights ZF’s commitment to innovative repowering solutions.

ZF’s EcoWorld transmission improves energy efficiency and aids rail operators in meeting decarbonization goals, aligning with government targets for a net-zero rail network by 2050.

ZF’s Nottingham Centre of Competence provides overhaul, repair, and preventive maintenance for driveline systems, supporting rail operators in achieving lower emissions and decarbonisation goals.
