SLC, a company best known for helping clients build new railway stations and deliver major infrastructure projects, is marking World Bee Day by sponsoring a beehive in Devon.
“SLC is committed to supporting projects that shape a better future. While we’re usually focused on helping clients deliver new railway stations, we were excited to get behind this initiative,” said Ian Walters, Managing Director of SLC.
“Bees play a vital role in pollination and maintaining biodiversity. Supporting this effort is a small step towards helping our environment.”
The Devon-based hive is nestled on the grounds of the Managing Director of one of its partner organisations. Cath Bellamy, Managing Director of The Rail Academy, set up the apiary to provide a safe home for a growing number of bees and to support the local ecosystem.
SLC, which has worked on 100 rail projects, hopes this sponsorship will also help to raise awareness of the vital role pollinators play to environmental health by giving regular updates on how the ‘SLC bees’ are getting on building their community. The sponsorship also complements SLC’s sustainability strategy ‘SLC Life’.
