ROG Site Visit – Graduate Engineers (from AtkinsRealis)

Rail Operations Group recently had the pleasure of welcoming some promising railway engineering talent to our yard in Crewe. Graduate engineers from AtkinsRealis, including Matthew Beard, Katherine Dodds, Harry Curtis and Ryan Hill, visited us as part of their graduate engineering program.

Ollie Novell from our Customer Solutions and Production team hosted the group. During their visit, they discussed the future of railways, including rolling stock, signalling, and the challenges faced in infrastructure from both engineering and operational perspectives.

Walking around our site provided valuable insights into how issues such as infrastructure deterioration, improvements, and engineering decisions can affect daily operations and the overall efficiency of a modern railway. It also emphasized the importance of properly documenting and implementing our safety systems.

“We all learned something new from each other,” said Ollie. “It’s fantastic to see such enthusiasm and talent being nurtured and developed, especially during a challenging time for Britain’s railway network. It was a great opportunity to showcase the operational achievements we at ROG are so proud of, with fellow industry colleagues”.
