Staytite has announced a partnership with ROBEL to introduce a next-generation solution for temporary rail joints, aiming to address longstanding challenges around disruptions, speed restrictions and safety risks on the rail network.
At the heart of the innovation is Staytite’s intelligent bolt technology, which measures clamp force directly rather than relying on torque, a distinction the company says delivers a more precise and reliable installation. Each clamp can be equipped with the intelligent bolt, removing the need for torque tools on site and ensuring consistent tightening to the exact required clamp force.
ROBEL, currently regarded as a leading supplier of rail clamps in the market, will work alongside Staytite to bring the solution to the global rail industry, giving track engineers greater confidence that temporary joints remain secure until a permanent fix is in place.
The partnership also introduces a remote monitoring capability, which is particularly relevant in markets such as the UK and Ireland, where daily inspections of temporary joints are a mandatory requirement. The new system offers automated monitoring every 15 minutes, cloud-based data insights, and automatic health tracking for each joint, making the inspection process significantly smarter and less resource-intensive.
