TrainFX has won AI Tech Innovation of the Year at the Made in the Midlands Awards 2026, recognising the company’s pioneering use of artificial intelligence to improve rail operations and the passenger experience.
The award was presented at a gala ceremony held at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham, bringing together leading manufacturers and technology businesses from across the region.
TrainFX received the award for its AI-powered passenger counting and occupancy intelligence system, which combines machine learning-based computer vision with TrainFX Smart-PIS to provide real-time capacity insights to rail operators.
The technology supports better operational efficiency, smarter service planning and improved passenger experience by giving operators clearer, more accurate visibility of passenger numbers and carriage occupancy.
