Incremental Solutions has introduced a new overspeed monitoring capability designed to help railway operators and infrastructure managers identify potential overspeeding events and recurring risk hotspots.
The approach combines high-frequency onboard GPS with train movement, routing and infrastructure speed data. It reconstructs the route a train travelled, establishes the applicable line speed and compares this against the recorded speed profile.
Candidate events can then be presented with their location, exceedance, duration and surrounding journey context. By analysing repeated events, the platform can also identify locations where signage, route knowledge, operational practices or train performance may require further investigation.
Tim Flower, Chief Revenue Officer at Incremental Solutions, said:
“Most of the value comes from identifying patterns early. If similar events repeatedly occur at the same location, the railway has an opportunity to understand the cause and take preventive action before a more serious incident occurs.”
The capability is designed as an intelligent screening and risk management tool. It does not replace OTMR evidence, driver investigation processes or operational judgement.
Incremental is now offering targeted Proof of Value deployments to validate the capability against agreed routes and operating conditions.
