The Rail Forum Midlands (RFEM) has joined forces with the Careers Transition Partnership, to bring together military personnel who are currently planning their transition into civilian life and who may be interested in a second career in the rail sector, with RFM members who are looking to expand/develop their workforce. The event is being publicised to all leavers with a wide variety of backgrounds.
The outline programme for the event is:
•Welcome and Introduction to the Rail Industry / Type of Opportunities Available
•Case Study Presentations from Armed Forces Personnel Now Working in Rail
•Opportunity to Meet Regional Employers Informally to Understand Their Businesses and Specific Opportunities
•Feedback Session
Alongside the main event there will also be a dedicated session for Senior Officers looking for senior management positions. This is being offered in conjunction with the Officers’ Association. Typically these individuals will be Lt Colonel, Commander or Wing Commander ranks and above with 25+ years of management and leadership experience, including managing 500-3000 people and large scale multi disciplinary projects valued at £10m-£100m.
The event will provide service leavers with the opportunity to hear about the types of roles on offer and to meet prospective employers to understand first-hand about upcoming jobs and the type of skills required. Many leavers qualify for funding to put toward training so the opportunity to talk to potential employers may also help individuals decide what additional training they might need to be able to follow the career of their choice.
RFM member organisations are invited to attend free of charge. You will have a space to exhibit and chat informally to the attendees. You are still welcome to take part if you don’t have specific job opportunities right now as some service leavers will be at the early stages of planning their exit which may not be for a few months.
THIS EVENT IS FREE FOR RFM MEMBERS TO TAKE PART AND FREE FOR ARMED FORCES PERSONNEL TO ATTEND
