The UK Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN) is a network of centres revolutionising innovation in rail. UKRRIN was launched in February 2018 with a parliamentary reception and held its first Annual Conference in November 2018.

The network is the result of commitment from both the academic community and the rail supply chain to work together to make a step-change in rail innovation and increase both investment in research, and uptake of ideas and new technologies, on a global scale. The first eighteen months has seen the network expand in terms of capabilities, begin working on projects with industry partners, and take part in key rail industry events and activities both in the UK and internationally.

The second UKRRIN Annual Conference will take place in Birmingham on Thursday 21 November 2019. From innovators and funders to senior decision-makers and researchers, this event is a forum bringing together all those with a vested interest in rail research and innovation.

The conference will provide delegates with opportunities to:

Explore research activities, network facilities, capabilities and the opportunities for SMEs and the rail supply chain in partnering with UKRRIN

Discuss the future strategic direction of rail innovation, and understand UKRRIN’s role in helping to deliver the future GB rail

Meet those involved – industry members, academic researchers and members of the coordinating hub underpinning the network

Workshop session options:

1.Automation of train operations
2.Low emissions railway
3.Asset reliability
4.Connected and integrated rail transport
