Birmingham Rubber and Plastics Manufacturer Celebrates their 100 Year Anniversary

In March 2021, a leading UK rubber and plastics specialist will celebrate an important milestone, having achieved a hundred years as a business. West Midlands company, CB Frost & Co, was established in Birmingham in 1921.
Formed as a family-run business, CB Frost’s heritage is very much entwined with the growth of the commercial plastics and rubber industry in Birmingham. With the development of many new plastic products throughout the 1920s and 1930s, the CB Frost family were able to take advantage of the growing market, developing and refining their own products.

Although no longer a family-run business, CB Frost continue to work to their original ethos of ‘quality without compromise’. In the last hundred years, they have continually developed their materials, products, manufacturing equipment and processes to grow into one of the UK’s most reputable converters of rubber, plastic and sponge materials.

The last decade has heralded a number of major changes for CB Frost, including a seven figure management buyout in 2017, led by Directors Paul Kennedy and Mark Jones. Following the management buyout, CB Frost experienced considerable growth, investing in new machinery to further increase their efficiency and product offering. In 2020, despite the challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic, the company relocated from their premises in Digbeth to a large new facility at Matrix Point Birmingham.

Daniel Brock, CB Frost Business Development Manager, said:
“My career with CB Frost started a decade ago now and it really is a pleasure to talk about how far the company has come not only in the past 10 years, but in its entirety. From humble beginnings to a brand-new facility just on the outskirts of Birmingham City centre, this speaks volumes of the company’s history and indeed success.

“Having also invested over £250k in the last 12 months, this demonstrates that senior management are not resting on their laurels and very much looking forward to the next 100 years. It is an exciting time to be part of the CB Frost family at present and I am looking forward to organising an open day for our customers to showcase exactly how far CB Frost has come.”

Edward Booth, CB Frost Sales/Quality Manager, added:
“Having been with the company now for 12 years, I have seen the business grow from strength to strength, accumulating in moving to new state of the art premises which truly reflect the professional outfit CB Frost are.

“The investment from senior management is a testament to their “continual improvement” programme, covering the whole company, from sales, production, quality, through to health & safety.

“In its history the company was once family owned and senior management continue that ethos to this day.”
