CWE celebrates continued growth with new Scunthorpe facility and team appointments

CWE, the leading independent supply, maintenance and logistics partner for the rail industry, is celebrating another year of significant business and team growth with the opening of a new facility in Scunthorpe.

The new rail-linked facility is designed to provide wagon maintenance, overhaul, repair, and modifications for the rail industry, which will enable CWE to become a true problem solver and continue to provide dedicated client service within the region.

The facility is just one aspect of CWE’s dedication to investing in the region, alongside other efforts such as apprenticeship and training partnerships with both Doncaster Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Lincolnshire Careers Hub, as well as a range of local sponsorships and charity events.

The company has also welcomed several new team members, with the recruitment of a new Finance Manager, Finance Director, Commercial Manager, Operations Manager, and Admin Assistant to drive CWE into the future.

This latest news follows a brand refresh in 2021, and several significant customer wins for CWE. It is now the partner of choice for all freight buffers for the main players in the rail sector and is the only independent buffer and coupler overhauler in the UK.

Nick Andrew, Managing Director at CWE, said: “This facility marks an exciting next step in CWE’s growth ambitions. It will enable us to expand our Centre of Excellence for Rail – which we established earlier this year – by supporting our customers on major refurbishment projects for multiple wagons and components. All our facilities operate to the highest standards, helpling our customers keep their rolling stock on the tracks for longer.”

In other good news, CWE’s Quality Manager, Adrian Salatowski, recently celebrated winning Higher/Degree Apprentice of the Year at the South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards and Runner-Up in the Young Rail Freight Professional category at the Rail Freight Group Awards.

CWE has also been nominated as SME Business of the Year in the 2022 Doncaster Business Awards, with the winner due to be announced in December.

Nick Andrew continues: “This has been a fantastic year so far, and one of the things we’re really proud of is recognising and nurturing talent in the rail sector, supporting our work with organisations such as NCATI and Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.

“We’re really proud to be nominated for these awards as they recognise the efforts of the whole team.”

CWE’s services include overhaul, refurbishment, machining and fabrication, providing complete lifecycle management of rolling stock from technical design and reverse engineering of key parts, minimising downtime and supporting the decarbonisation of rail.
