GB Railfreight’s final leased Akiem locomotive 66/3 (66316) is ready to enter traffic, after extension conversion to UK gauge and specification at EMD Longport.
Extensive work has seen a complete engine overhaul, crankshaft polish, new bearing, new turbo, new alternator, new compressor, as well as a number of modifications, including passive noise, air conditioning, TPWS4 and GSMR.
The locomotive has had GBRf decals applied over its HHPI grey due to time restrictions with a busy RHTT season ahead. A full repaint of the locomotive.
GBRf 66316 originally entered service in Germany in 2003 after being manufactured in the USA.
