Fishbone’s latest SaaS solution demonstrates its growing capabilities in software product development.
Engineering solutions provider Fishbone has developed a new software product in which the optimisation of digital stock recording and onward sale of redundant assets, has delivered considerable financial and environmental benefits for its Clients.
Developed as a bespoke cloud-based solution for HS2 Ltd and Joint Ventures, the ‘HS2 Exchange’ product adds to the growing catalogue of contracts for the Derby-based business, of companies in the rail and wider mass transport and construction sectors which are turning to its expert team for bespoke SaaS solutions.
In the case of HS2 Exchange, Fishbone was asked to develop a cloud-based software solution which would digitise asset inventories and facilitate the onward sale of redundant stock. Working in collaboration with its Clients, the Fishbone team took time to understand the challenges they were facing with their existing system, before carrying out a technical feasibility study and cost benefit analysis to assess the suitability of a proposed solution.
The resulting product was a cloud-based asset management and marketplace platform which offered the following:
- Broad-spectrum Asset Management and Buying and Selling Platform
- Fully managed inventories in a secure and isolated environment
- The ability to advertise new, used and refurbished assets for sale
- The option for buyers to place offers on advertised assets
- A pre-sales approvals function
- User activity logging and trails
- Business intelligence function.
The benefits this delivered included cost savings across procurement and duplicate purchases; sustainability wins in terms of extending asset life and a reduction in waste; inventory optimisation regarding accurate stock control and reduced storage costs.
