ECOVADIS, THE GLOBAL SUSTAINABILITY ratings agency, has accredited Rail Forum member Contented ESG as a Core Partner. The British business helps infrastructure suppliers to lead sustainability by creating strategic value, from compliance to culture. The award unlocks opportunities to help clients penetrate supply chains to major transport projects around the world.
RSSB’s Sustainable Rail Blueprint sets out 11 rail topics across emissions, natural environment and social sustainability, defining what the UK industry needs to achieve to face the future. While sustainability is complex, by shifting thinking, social value and circular business models can become investment opportunities rather than costs.
The UK-headquartered training, coaching and consulting company has been developing its capacity to support suppliers in Europe and across Latin America, South Asia and the Middle East, helping them enter markets where sustainability standards are most rigorous. Contented – which is celebrating its 25th anniversary – has been working on EcoVadis for some years and was already a training partner, with its own overall ratings score in the 94th percentile. This year, with support from UK government, the company launched its Sustainability Accelerator, where practitioners work together to overcome challenges in implementing roadmaps for sustainability, social value and ESG, with practical training and coaching recognised by the Institute of Leadership and EMCC Global.
Contented CEO Gerard Davies said that the designation recognised the company’s ability to support certification of sustainability management and reporting systems by EcoVadis. This complemented his team’s expertise in strategic planning, social value reporting and leadership support. “Our aim is to help teams shift cultures beyond compliance, where sustainability drives resilience, innovation, performance and business transformation,” he added.
As well as leadership and compliance, Contented can prepare carbon reports to the international ISO14064 standard, helping meet requirements of the Cross Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and for Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). The team also helps create Digital Product Passports introduced by the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) to provide information on environmental impact, materials, repairability and other sustainability information throughout a product’s lifecycle. The company’s international network of coaches and technical specialists brings local market knowledge and multilingual expertise, with the ability for second-party site inspections where trusted evidence has proved difficult to source.
Contented has received financing from the UK’s Shared Prosperity Fund and Business Growth West Midlands, with support from Innovate UK, University of Birmingham, and the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, helping the company expand its reach into Asia, North America, the Middle East and Africa.
