Rail Forum is thrilled to announce the launch of the 2026 Rail Safety Week Colouring Competition.
It is a creative and accessible way for parents, guardians and teachers to spark meaningful conversations about staying safe on and around the railway.
This year’s competition is open across two categories:
- Colouring competition for children aged 4–6
- Colouring competition for children aged 7–10
Whether you’re a parent looking for a fun activity at home or a teacher bringing rail safety into the classroom, this is a wonderful opportunity to engage young people with one of our industry’s most important messages.

Dylan Jones, Communications Executive at Rail Forum and for Rail Safety Week, said:
“The Rail Safety Week Colouring Competition is a great example of how we can spread crucial messaging in an engaging and impactful way. Our aim is to raise awareness in a way that inspires and educates, with a strong emphasis on younger generations becoming more involved with the subject of safety on the railway.”
Elaine Clark, CEO at Rail Forum and Industry Lead for Rail Safety Week, said:
“Rail Safety Week is one of the most important moments in our industry’s calendar, and the Colouring Competition has always been one of its most joyful staples. We look forward to seeing entries from across the rail community.”
Competition entry sheets are available to download now via the Rail Safety Week website. Full submission guidelines and terms and conditions can also be found on the website and if you’d like a flavour of what the competition inspires, you can view the winning entries from last year here.
The deadline for entries is Friday 14th August 2026, with prizes for the winners to be announced in October.
