Positive Traction’s ’08e’ Turns Heads at Rail Live

Positive Traction’s pioneering ’08e’ battery-powered shunter made its public debut in a striking new livery at Rail Live last week.

Locomotive 08308 arrived freshly repainted in Loram’s red livery to mark a new five-year deal that will see it serve as the depot shunter at Loram’s Rail Technical Centre in Derby. The partnership signals a meaningful commitment from Loram to greener depot operations — and for Positive Traction, it’s a significant commercial milestone for a locomotive that’s been years in the making.

Free from carbon, NOx and particulate emissions, the 08e is built to meet the day-to-day demands of depot shunting without the environmental cost of its diesel predecessors. A quiet but powerful statement of where the industry is heading
