James Tidy Steps Down as Managing Director of Tidyco After 26 Years of Service

After a remarkable 26-year career with Tidyco, including over a decade at the helm as Managing Director, James Tidy has announced his departure from the company. His tenure marks a significant chapter in Tidyco’s history, one defined by growth, diversification, and innovation.

James Tidy took over the role of Managing Director from his predecessor, Rob Brown, building on an already strong foundation. Under his leadership, Tidyco evolved from a primarily hydraulics-focused company into a multidivisional business serving multiple sectors across the UK. Recognising the need to futureproof and diversify the business, James played a fundamental role in launching two additional divisions; the Climate and Electrical division, and implemented IT automation across the HoseDoctor service, which directly contributed to us being awarded the Parker HoseDoctor call centre contract – three strategic moves that positioned Tidyco as a broader engineering solutions provider.

“It’s been an incredible journey,” said James. “When I started at Tidyco, we were a much smaller operation. The opportunity to work with an amazing team, expand into new markets, and continue the legacy built by Rob Brown has been an honour. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”

Over the years, James championed a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability, aligning Tidyco’s offering with modern engineering demands. His focus on long-term investment in people, systems, and facilities helped ensure the company stayed resilient and relevant through industry changes and economic cycles.

Introducing Scott Mawby as the New Managing Director

With James Tidy stepping down, Scott Mawby has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Tidyco. Scott brings a wealth of experience to the role, with 36 years in the manufacturing and engineering sectors. He has been part of the Indutrade group – Tidyco’s parent company – for five years and has served as Managing Director of Birmingham Specialities during that time, where he led significant performance improvements and strategic growth.

Scott now steps into the role with a clear vision for Tidyco’s future. He commented:

“It’s a privilege to join a company with such a strong heritage and forward-thinking approach. I’m looking forward to building on the work James and the team have done – particularly in supporting our people, developing our capabilities, and strengthening relationships with key partners across rail, defence, and other industrial markets.”

Continuity with Fresh Leadership

While this marks a leadership transition, the core values and customer-centric philosophy that Tidyco is known for will remain unchanged. Scott’s experience within the Indutrade ecosystem ensures a smooth and consistent alignment with the group’s long-term strategy, while bringing fresh energy to Tidyco’s future development.

James will remain involved during a transitional handover period to ensure a smooth onboarding process for Scott and continuity across the organisation.
