Ford & Stanley’s annual clay shoot creates an industry bang

Talent services specialist Ford & Stanley once again welcomed guests from across the rail sector at a jointly hosted event at Nottinghamshire’s Orston Shooting Ground.

Hosted in partnership with Enigma Seven on June 5th, the Ford & Stanley client shoot and social saw more than 50 invitees braving the drizzle and grey skies at the venue, set within 53 beautiful acres, as 9 teams showed off their impressive clay shooting skills.

Industry stakeholders from across the UK came together to invest quality time in deepening and building relationships, with the weather mercifully clearing just in time for the event showstopper, the ‘High Gun shoot off’, followed by prizes and trophies.

The day’s events featured an hour of practice across the various traps, followed by a short break before getting down to business in a competitive, scored shoot with guidance from expert instructors. The participants got to benefit from using high spec, world class equipment and expert instructors at a venue that has been home to many national championships over the years.

Congratulations went to the winners, with Nick Sinclair putting in a sterling performance to secure the top spot for the High Gun shoot off, followed by Lee Doggett taking second place and Max Ordish coming in third.

Wooden Spoon winner was Sash Rigby and Squad 4 was declared the winning squad – Jonathon Levers, Marc Binney, David Begg, Matt Labuda and Nick Sinclair.

Dan Taylor, Commercial Director from Ford & Stanley Talent Services Group said: “What a fantastic day – a huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a memorable occasion – topped off perfectly with a celebratory visit to the pub. We’d also like to extend our gratitude to the Orston Shooting Ground team for their hospitality and to the hosts and organisers who made the day seamless for the second year in a row.”

“From engaging conversations to some rather impressive shooting performances, the day lived up to its promise. At Ford & Stanley, events like this are a key part of our annual calendar; not just for networking, but for building meaningful and long-term partnerships across the rail industry. We look forward to doing the same next year.”
