Webinar: Changing the standards to support innovation

Date/Time
Date(s) - November 10 2025
2:00pm - 4:00pm

Location

This event will take place online.

In continuation to our Maximising opportunities in CP7 event back in May where we heard from Luisa Moisio, Director Research for RSSB, and in conjunction with IET and their online briefing regarding UK Rail Technical Strategy (which took place on 11 September), we are delighted to host this event which explores the industry approach to standards and critically how they work with ever developing technologies.

With the overarching remit for standards to support and enable the safe running of the industry, the pace of technology and innovation can sometimes require reflection and review of standards.  But can this happen? And how do you go about challenging standards?

This online briefing will explore why we have standards, who owns the various standards and how those organisations work together.  We are also excited to hear about RSSB Research Projects which can explore challenging standards.

Speakers

  • Brian Tomlinson, Chief Systems Engineer, Network Rail
  • Luisa Moisio, Director of Research, RSSB
  • Tom Lee, Director of Standards, RSSB

We will also be hearing from several supply chain organisations about their experiences with standards for the development of new solutions.
