As we are hurtling towards the end of the year, it is a natural time to reflect and celebrate another excellent year. There are many highlights to look back on, not only because of the 25th anniversary, but also because the team have continued to work hard in what hasn’t been the easiest year for the rail industry.
Of course, we could not look back without mentioning our 25th anniversary, as it truly has been a reason to celebrate. It has been so special for Paul and the team to remember the beginnings of Kilborn Consulting Limited, to thank our long standing employees and our loyal clients, and to honour the effort and expertise poured into the company by Paul and everyone who has played a part over the last 25 years.
We were delighted to hear from past and present connections when the anniversary announcement first went live – it was a great surprise to be thanked and encouraged by so many of our fellow industry colleagues.
Beyond the obvious joy of reaching such a significant milestone, Paul said earlier in the year,
“Like many others, we’re going through a bit of drought now, but, by showing the resilience and determination that got us to our 25th anniversary, we will flourish again”, and the team have done just that.
Business as usual has carried on, and we have provided our usual excellent services, which you can read all about here if you are not familiar. We have enjoyed connecting with lots of you at various events, being able to share ideas and keeping in touch with current themes for the rail industry.
Nicola has even brought a bit of fun by taking our new Kilborn water bottle on tour as a conversation starter and reminder that our work isn’t just what we do, but also how we do it – the bottle is just a small step towards how Kilborn can take responsibility for its effect on the planet.
Another highlight was welcoming Toby Radiszewski, a university student, to do a summer placement. The enthusiasm he showed, and how quickly he learnt new things, was a great boost for the team, and an encouraging sign for the future of the rail industry. It was a real privilege for Kilborn to play a part in a young person exploring rail engineering, and we hope to do more of this in the future.
This year we have also celebrated several team members’ progression: Daniel McSharry completed his apprenticeship and is now licensed as an Assistant Signalling Designer, Mohamed Jamac as a Signalling Designer, and Shazad Bux has been awarded an Associate Membership within the IRSE.
We are sure there will be much more to celebrate in 2026, and, as ever, we are grateful to our loyal team, industry colleagues and clients for their part in the story that is Kilborn Consulting Limited.
