Porterbrook and Chiltern Railways will jointly deliver a lecture to explain the journey taken with supply chain partners to create a hybrid Cl168 Turbostar. This project, to combat societal air quality challenges, incorporates a modern diesel engine combined with battery energy store technology to produce a hybrid train, able to operate emission-free in major conurbations.

Ian Hyde, Engineering & Safety Director at Chiltern Railways, in collaboration with Andy Brodniewski and Ian Williams representing Porterbrook, will explain the key objectives and challenges overcome to achieve passenger trials and outline future opportunities for the application of hybrid technology

The lecture is scheduled to take place on 20th April at the Derby conference centre. The lecture will also be broadcasted on Zoom.
