Following on from the COP26 Conference in November 2021 the UK has reaffirmed its commitment to achieving net zero by 2050. The UK railway is targeted to remove all diesel only trains by 2040 and be fully net zero by 2050, earlier in Scotland, and public procurement will be a key driver in helping to achieve this ambition. But addressing climate change isn’t just a rail or business issue; it’s a societal one that means we all need to play our part.

In order to ‘keep the principles of COP’ moving forward the Rail Forum is planning a series of events throughout 2022 and we are pleased to confirm the launch event will take place online on 26th January.

This event will set the scene highlighting what key clients in the industry are both doing, and expecting, of their supply chains. We know that customers are already including net zero criteria in their tenders and this will only increase in importance in the coming years.

Hear from a range of speakers from across the industry explaining their plans and how this impacts on their suppliers including;

  • Keynote Address from Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
  • Jo Lewington, Chief Environment & Sustainability Officer at Network Rail,
  • Mark Fenton, Carbon Manager at HS2,
  • Mark Gaynor, Head of Railway Planning at Rail Delivery Group
  • Marie Hill, Chief Transformation and Digitalisation Officer at DB Cargo

This event will take place on Zoom and bookings will close on Friday 21 January at 5pm with joining information being sent out on the 24th.
