Services Design Solution (SDS) is a building services and sustainable design consultancy supporting the UK rail sector.
For rail operators, contractors and infrastructure providers facing challenges such as decarbonisation, ageing assets, and delivering upgrades within live operational environments, SDS provides practical MEP (mechanical, electrical and public health) design solutions that improve performance, resilience and efficiency. We work across stations, depots, control centres and operational facilities, helping clients meet compliance requirements while minimising disruption to passengers and services.
Our capabilities include MEPH design, Network Rail PACE-stage support and CRE roles, digital engineering (BIM and ISO 19650-aligned delivery), and low-carbon system design including energy-efficient upgrades and EV infrastructure. We also deliver specialist systems including lighting, HVAC, passenger information and safety-critical systems.
SDS differentiates itself through a focus on buildability and live-environment delivery, combining coordinated 3D digital models with construction-aware design to reduce risk and improve project outcomes.
We have supported projects including Bletchley Rail Depot, Norwich Crown Point Depot and station upgrades across the UK, working with clients such as Network Rail, train operating companies and tier one contractors.
