DfT’s Rail Network Enhancements Pipeline: Autumn 2019 Schemes Update

The Department for Transport’s Rail Network Enhancements Pipeline – Autumn 2019 Schemes Update is a document providing an update of stakeholder schemes which are progressing through the governance process and receive Department for Transport funding: Rail Network Enhancements Pipeline UPDATE

Committed to transparent policy making, the DfT intend this update to be a clear public statement of which schemes are at which decision gateway – in the Pipeline.  This means these porjects have received a decision to initiate enhancement programmes that will improve capability by improving capcaity and/or technology.

Autumn 2019’s update contains a description of the process, a list of schemes at three different stages – initiation, development and design – and a case study of Gatwick Airport Station.

It also includes third party enhancement projects that must go through the RNEP: the Department for Transport also actively encourages projects with Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), Local Authorities, Train Operating Companies and businesses.

It does not include details of schemes which have received a decision to deliver – this information is in Network Rail’s Enhacement Delivery Plan (EDP) for England and Wales: www.networkrail.co.uk/whoweare/publicationsandresources/
