Kloeckner Boosts Equipment Portfolio with Major Flat Bed Laser Investment

At Kloeckner Metals UK, we are constantly in touch with our customers to learn about their unique needs so that we can meet their metal requirements more efficiently. Over the years, we have invested in different types of machinery to be able to offer our customers a wide range of value-added services. Recently, we significantly enhanced our equipment portfolio with an impressive Trumpf 5060 54L flat bed laser, at our Dudley site. This is a powerful machine whose advanced features will undoubtedly elevate our capabilities and help us meet the demands of the market more efficiently.

Kloeckner’s current flat bed laser portfolio includes both fibre and CO2 lasers, which allows us to process a variety of materials from Carbon, Stainless and Galvanised Steel to Aluminium and COR-TEN®. We carry out large volume or small batch profiling and process diverse sheet thicknesses – Carbon Steel up to 20mm, Stainless Steel up to 30mm and Aluminium up to 15mm.

While previously we were able to cut dimensions of 4000mm x 2000mm, this new investment, with its larger bed size of 6000mm x 2000mm, opens up opportunities to provide solutions that cater to even more demanding requirements.

Enhanced Laser Cutting Capabilities with the New Trumpf 5060 54L Flat Bed Laser

The remarkable Trumpf 5060 54L flat bed laser follows in the footsteps of enhanced laser cutting capabilities at Kloeckner Metals UK. With its expansive bed size, measuring an impressive 6000mm x 2000mm, this machine represents a significant leap forward from our existing flat lasers.

Dion Peirse, Head of Operations at Leeds and Dudley, says: “We are excited about the potential as the Trumpf 5060 54L empowers us to efficiently utilise our 6000mm x 2000mm Stainless Steel stock at the Dudley site. With the ability to process 30mm thick Stainless Steel, it marks a substantial advancement from our prior capabilities. Furthermore, the new addition boasts the capability to create smaller holes in thick materials, allowing us to achieve precision and intricate designs like never before.”

The new flat bed laser, now fully operational, further strengthens Kloeckner’s position as one of the leading processing suppliers in the industry.

This acquisition seamlessly follows last year’s expansion at the Dudley site, reaffirming our commitment to delivering top-tier solutions and exceptional outcomes for our customers.
