Long-awaited Lineardraft Elevation Module for OLE cross section design launched

The new tool, available exclusively to Lineardraft users, will help designers automate the creation of annotated cross section drawings.

WARRINGTON (UK) 11th September 2025: Zebraware announced today the arrival of the Elevation Module pilot programme, which uses an intuitive design interface and automation tools to significantly increase the efficiency of creating annotated elevation drawings, as part of the overhead line electrification design process. The module is an expansion to Lineardraft, a one-of-a-kind overhead line design software which works within Bentley MicroStation. As the new module is an add-on, any changes made to structures, wires, and equipment in a Lineardraft design will be automatically updated in any created drawings, including the annotations, saving time on rework.

Lineardraft itself has been used on HS2, Transpennine Route Upgrade, and many other rail projects both in the UK and around the world. On the Fife & Borders Electrification project, users reported a remarkable 6 months saved on the design programme and 45% design cost savings as a result of using Lineardraft. With the Elevation Module expanding Lineardraft’s capability to create annotated cross sections, designers can expect to benefit even more from the software’s ever-growing suite of tools.

“This release is a further step towards broadening our automation offerings in the OLE/OCS design space, and will bring tangible benefits, cost savings, and cross-section time reduction for our users,” says Matt Gilluley, Commercial Director at Zebraware. “I’ve spoken about the Elevation Module to so many of our customers and prospects this year, this is only the beginning.”

Features and benefits of the Elevation Module include:

  • Instant creation of key dimension annotations for cross sectional/elevation drawings, which can be fully edited once drawn
  • The ability to save and reload drawing configurations so users can create templates and reuse them between drawings
  • As the module is linked with their Lineardraft design, any changes users make to a structure, wires, or equipment will then be reflected in any drawings and annotations already created.

The Elevation Module pilot programme will be available exclusively to Lineardraft users starting 22nd September. This will allow the Lineardraft team to work with users and key stakeholders to shape the feature-set of the module, to deliver unique value and solve the key pain points of the current methods.
