Rail Forum has released the second episode of its Patron Podcast Series, featuring Tim Bentley, Group Managing Director and Regional Vice President at Wabtec.
In this episode, Tim discusses Wabtec’s significant investment in the UK, including the development of a new rail technology hub in Barton, and how this £30 million programme is strengthening domestic capability, building skills, and improving the resilience of the UK rail supply chain.
Speaking on the podcast, Tim Bentley said: “Britain needs a world-class railway to support growth and connectivity. Our investment in the UK is about creating long-term capability, in people, technology and infrastructure, so the supply chain is stronger and more resilient for the future.”
The conversation explores how better use of data, collaboration between operators and suppliers, and a renewed focus on subsystem asset management can improve performance, reduce whole-life costs, and deliver better outcomes for passengers and freight customers.
Elaine Clark OBE, Chief Executive Officer at Rail Forum, said: “This episode captures exactly the kind of honest, forward-looking conversation our Patron Podcast Series is designed to showcase. It highlights the importance of confidence to invest, collaboration across the industry, and the vital role the UK supply chain plays in delivering a better railway.”
The episode also reflects on workforce development, the importance of apprenticeships, and the responsibility of industry leaders to support communities through change.
The second episode of the Rail Forum Patron Podcast Series is now available via the Rail Forum website (https://www.railforum.uk/podcast/) and on all major podcast platforms.
