Open to all UK companies, railway suppliers are invited to sign up to attend an in-person seminar at the Railway Industry Association (RIA) in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) on Friday 24 March focusing on rail opportunities in the Republic of North Macedonia.

The event will be chaired by Martin Vickers MP, PM’s Trade Envoy for the Western Balkans with guest speaker Mr. Hari Lokvenec, Director General, MK Railways Infrastructure from Republic of North Macedonia.

Topic: The Public Enterprise for Railway Infrastructure Railways of Republic of North Macedonia – Skopje has a strong pipeline of major infrastructure development projects. Their vision is to rehabilitate the existing railway network and to build new railway lines, as part of the Pan-European Corridors VIII and X.

The delegation will be led by the Director of the Public Enterprise for Railway Infrastructure Railways of Republic of North Macedonia – Skopje Mr. Hari Lokvenec, who will offer their country’s perspective on these projects and further plans to expand and improve the railway infrastructure network in the Republic of North Macedonia on its way to becoming an EU member state.

The Director and high ranking officials of the of the railway infrastructure manager in the Republic of North Macedonia will present their most mature railway infrastructure projects and the services they will be procuring from international companies, including project management and technical assistance to the project implementation unit, supervision services and construction works including ETCS-level 1 and electrification, capacity building in relation to management of FIDIC contracts, among others.

Additionally, information will be provided for the forthcoming projects in the railway infrastructure sector up to 2030 related to construction of new railway lines, track renewal works and possibility for supply of maintenance equipment.

UK Export Finance and the Department of Business and Trade will have representatives available who will discuss how they can support UK companies in the region.

At the end of presentations, there will be a question-and-answer session followed by general networking over tea and coffee, finishing at noon.
