1 in 4 engineers have considered suicide or self-harm. It’s a commonly known statistic that the biggest killer of men under the age of 50 in the UK is suicide, but a less well-known statistic is that those who work in construction / engineering / manufacturing are more than 3.5 times more likely to die by suicide than the national average, and the rail industry sits at the intersection of those three sectors.
