Billions of dollars in transportation investment are happening in all the major cities across Canada. Greenfield projects, expansions to existing routes, and maintenance of aging lines, are required to ensure Canadian cities remain economically competitive and offer a quality of life for Canada’s increasing population.

This in-person briefing will highlight the current and planned transportation investment in four key provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec.

We are delighted to welcome Tracey Grindal, Senior Trade Officer Infrastructure, Canada who will cover all the major projects, specifically, highlighting the C$50+ billion on the planned brown and greenfield projects in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) including the GO Expansion Project (OnCorr) and the Ontario Subways Programme. She will highlight take ways from her attendance at the first OnCorr Vendor Day in December 2023 including key timelines, challenges, and opportunities. She’ll also touch on the status of VIA Rail’s HFR project that will connect Toronto to Quebec City; over 1,000 km of dedicated mainly electrified tracks with a CAPEX estimate of C$30 billion.

In addition to chatting about the opportunities in the Canadian rail sector, Tracey will also highlight the challenges and key areas of consideration for UK companies looking to enter the Canadian market. She’ll also highlight important Canadian transportation events and relevant trade associations.

Additional speakers

We are pleased to welcome Jake Rudham, Rail Specialist – Sustainability & Infrastructure for Department for Business & Trade and Paul Tandy, UK Export Finance Manager .
