The Mental Wealth Company are delighted to be running a 2-day face to face Mental Health First Aider course in October. This course is for anyone who wants to learn how to assist others experiencing poor mental health. The skills are highly transferrable to other operational, supporting, management roles.

MHFA was founded over 20 years ago in Australia and is now present in 27 countries with 5 million people trained thus far. MHFAiders® help to enhance employee wellbeing and provide a psychologically safe environment for employees to reach out to when needed. The role of a MHFAider is to spot signs of potential problems, assess possible risks to the person and others, listen without judgement, give assistance or encourage the person to seek further help. The course covers effective skills and techniques to fit into the role within the workplace. MHFAiders® will also join a large community of MHFAiders® following training as well as receiving access to 24/7 digital support and opportunities for ongoing learning.

The course covers:

·       The role of a MHFAider® within an organisation and community.

·       Being confident to offer assistance to a person experiencing poor mental health.

·       How to be an approachable, trustworthy, non-judgemental, empathic and skilled listener.

·       How to actively reduce the stigma around mental health and to promote positive mental health.

·       Understanding the MHFA action plan, how to apply it and have a good understanding of how to be flexible and responsive in specific situations.

·       Opportunities to demonstrate knowledge, ask questions and guide others to a range of solutions.

·       Access to the 24/7 MHFA support app to view support, access the national database for MH services and recording any reflections following an MHFA conversation.

·       How to practise self-care and create boundaries for safety.

This MHFA England accredited course takes place within the historic Cromford Mills, DE4 3RQ, located in the beautiful Derbyshire Countryside which is accessible by train, car and bus, and near to excellent hotels.
