Derby-based Tidyco, a supplier of hydraulic and pneumatic products to the UK rail industry for over 40 years; here talks to Managing Director, James Tidy about the recently launched core values for the business.
Hi James, you have recently launched a series of shared core values for Tidyco. Can you explain what these values are and why you decided to introduce them?
Certainly, I felt it incredibly important to bring some shared core values to the company so as to nurture continuous improvement and solidarity. Equally important was an empathetic understanding towards creating a supportive, structured environment whereby all employees work in partnership towards a clearly defined set of standards.
Our core values were developed by the overall management team during an interactive strategic planning session.
Quite simply, the core values ensure that we are all working towards one shared vision.
The Tidyco core values consist of; Deliver Results, Customer Focus, Insist on Highest Standards, Ownership & Accountability, Teamwork, Celebrate Diversity.
What additional benefits will the discussed core values bring to Tidyco?
To my mind, our core values champion working together as one team whilst being a customer-centric company. To delve into this a little further, we are all committed to achieving KPIs so as to drive a world class customer service. Insisting on highest standards is essential within an engineering environment, especially when considering the stringent quality requirements that our customers require.
As both individuals as well as in partnership we take personal responsibility for the outcome of our work activity.
Teamwork is critical to the on-going success of Tidyco. Together, we succeed and learn which forms part of an overall continuous improvement process. Important too, is the necessity to celebrate wins and successes whilst working as one to achieve set goals.
Tidyco is a diverse company which I believe encourages productivity. Different perspectives stimulate a creative learning environment whereby the business will continuously grow and evolve.
How do the core values engage with all stakeholders?
Firstly, employee engagement is critical to the successful application of our values. Externally, I think that having a unified vision for best working practices instils confidence within the industries that Tidyco operates.
Public Sector, Government, large organisations, suppliers, industry bodies as well as media all witness a forward thinking, progressive team of people all of whom are fully committed towards excellence, respectful behaviour and best working practices.
Our core values enhance brand culture. I believe that the Tidyco culture is colourful, supportive, solutions based and innovative.
We have a fantastic team here at Tidyco and I thoroughly enjoy being part of the journey.
