GET YOUR BUSINESS READY FOR BREXIT SAYS UK GOVERNMENT

Supporting businesses to prepare for Brexit on 31 October is now government’s top priority. They want businesses to prepare so that they can take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead. Some businesses will have specific questions and concerns, but the whole of government is stepping up a gear and increasing the pace of our preparations as we get ready to leave on 31 October 2019.

Today, 06.09.2019, the UK Government issued a news release about how to prepare your business for Brexit.

If you trade any goods or services with the EU you need to get ready for Brexit.

You need to take action if you:

The government’s Brexit tool can help you prepare your UK business or organisation for leaving the EU. For example:

Individuals and families visiting the EU after Brexit

To visit the EU you need to:

  • check your passport
  • get travel insurance to make sure you are covered for healthcare
  • make sure you have the right driving documents
  • get a health certificate for your pet, as UK pet passports will no longer be valid in the EU (contact your vet at least 4 months before you travel)

UK nationals living in the European Union

Continuing to live and work in an EU country after Brexit depends on the rules in that country.

Check your rights for the country you live in.

You need to:

  • register or apply for residency
  • check if you are covered for healthcare and register if necessary
  • exchange your UK driving licence for a licence issued by the EU country where you live
  • check your passport
  • EU citizens living in the United Kingdom

Check what you need to do to stay in the UK

You should check if you need to apply to the settlement scheme (if you or your family are from the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland)
