Business Strategy and Risk Management

22 April 2020, 10am – 12pm

In times of uncertainty and complexity, strategic planning is crucial in helping organisations to overcome challenges so that they can move forward with confidence and build a stronger position within the marketplace. This short course will introduce you to the frameworks that can help you to develop a strategic plan and manage any associated risks. With guidance from UoD expert academics, you will identify and assess the strengths of your organisation so that you are able to proactively respond to potential challenges and take advantage of any opportunities that may come your way.

With operational activity now being limited for some businesses, this could be an ideal time to take a step back from operations and develop a strategy that will shape the future success of your organisation, whilst embedding a culture of continuous improvement.

This interactive learning experience will include a 30 minute Question and Answer session. Here you will have access to an expert in the area of strategic planning and risk management, who will bridge the gap between proven academic frameworks and practical application of the subject.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn how to assess the strategic options available to your organisation based on its unique strengths, so that you can overcome any challenges.
  • Understand how to apply the tried and tested theoretical frameworks to your organisation so that you can effectively respond to a changing landscape.
  • Help your organisation to stay ahead by learning how to embed a culture of continuous improvement.

Women in Leadership

24 April, 11am & 30 April 2020 (Time TBC)

Following on from International Women’s day, Dr Sarah Digby, Senior Lecturer in Leadership and Management has created a webinar series to help women understand why they are natural leaders and how they can use their skills to create a positive impact.

The webinars will also explore why – despite the massive potential women hold – there are still too few female leaders.  If you’re a woman in business interested in developing your leadership skills, or are an employer interested in maximising the potential of your female employees, then this webinar series is not to be missed!

Learning Outcomes

  • Participants will learn how to use their natural skills such as listening, communication and empathy to harness their leadership potential
  • Understand how to gain visibility and recognition as a leader within an organisation to increase impact
